Terms of Service

Effective and last updated July 22, 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Speedboat Design LLC, the operator of A Grand Story. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using the service, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.

Adult-managed service

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement to create an account, purchase a subscription, add child or family details, invite storytellers, or manage voices. Children may listen only under the supervision and choices of their parent or guardian; children may not create accounts or make purchases.

Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding your account, devices, private feed links, and invitation links. Provide accurate information and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. You may not transfer access in a way that exposes another family's private material.

Permission for voices and personal details

You may add or import a person's voice only with that speaker's informed permission to use the recording to create private stories for the family. You must not rely solely on possession of a voicemail, video, home movie, or other recording. You are responsible for having authority to submit names, child details, recordings, and other personal information.

We do not create a new voice for a person who has died. If a person consented and recorded a voice while living, the family may retain permitted stories and exports subject to these terms and any later withdrawal or legal requirement.

Your content and the license needed to provide the service

You retain the rights you hold in material you submit. You grant Speedboat Design LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, transcribe, transform, generate from, transmit, and otherwise process that material only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the requested A Grand Story service. This license ends when the material is deleted from active systems, except for limited legal, security, consent, and backup records described in the Privacy Policy.

Generated stories are licensed for the family's private, personal, non-commercial use. Do not sell, publicly distribute, advertise with, impersonate through, or use generated voices or stories to train another system without written permission from Speedboat Design LLC and every person whose rights are involved.

Acceptable use

You may not use A Grand Story to impersonate or deceive; clone a voice without permission; harass, exploit, or endanger a child or adult; violate privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or other rights; create illegal or harmful content; bypass safeguards or payment controls; probe another family's content; overload the service; or reverse engineer the service except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Subscriptions, trial, billing, and cancellation

A Grand Story Family is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Current price, billing period, trial eligibility, taxes, and regional availability are shown by Apple before purchase and may change prospectively.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel through App Store account settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles refunds under its policies. Existing legacy web subscribers manage billing through the linked Stripe customer portal.

Deletion, exports, and subscription end

You may request export or deletion using available in-app controls or by contacting us. Deleting a voice may also delete generated audio that depends on that voice. Stories already downloaded or exported by an authorized family member may remain outside our control. Ending a subscription stops new paid creation when the current entitlement ends but does not intentionally block playback of stories already made and retained on the device or account.

Intellectual property

A Grand Story's software, service design, text, catalog organization, branding, and owned artwork are protected by applicable law. “A Grand Story” is used as a brand of Speedboat Design LLC; these terms do not represent that the name is federally registered. Apple and other third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.

Copyright and rights complaints

If you believe material available through the service infringes copyright, privacy, publicity, or another right, email hello@agrandstory.com with your contact information, the work or right involved, the location of the material, the reason for the complaint, and a statement that the report is accurate and made in good faith. We may remove or restrict material while reviewing a complaint.

Service changes, suspension, and termination

We may update, limit, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain security, comply with law, address abuse, or operate the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these terms, while taking reasonable steps to preserve lawful export or deletion rights where appropriate.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, A Grand Story is provided “as is” and “as available.” Voice generation and automated stories can contain errors, unexpected pronunciations, or content that a family considers unsuitable. Adults remain responsible for reviewing what their children hear and for maintaining independent copies of irreplaceable family recordings. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that generated output will be unique.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Speedboat Design LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from the service. Our aggregate liability for a claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for A Grand Story in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US$100. These limits do not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited, including rights available under applicable consumer law.

App Store terms

The app is licensed, not sold, for use on Apple devices and is subject to Apple's applicable licensed-application terms. Apple is not responsible for A Grand Story or its content and is a third-party beneficiary of the portions of these terms applicable to the Apple-distributed app.

Changes, disputes, and contact

We may update these terms prospectively. Material changes will be dated and communicated where required. These terms do not waive mandatory rights or remedies under the law that applies to you.
